what a summer it has been. if not just the summer, this year has offered our family quite a bit of everything. with a lot of everything happening everywhere, work mayhem, a summer brimming with travel planned and unplanned, i’ve been using all of my spare time to try to unplug, focus on my family and take care of myself, and keeping my littles as grounded as possible.
professionally, i’ve been to and from europe twice; one of the best parts of the job, but also tough with two little ones at home. going to europe, spain and france specifically, always rejuvenates me. i love the lifestyle, the wine and culture, the style and design, all of it. being away reminds me how special our time home and together as a family is; how fleeting my time with these littles will be, and despite the rest of the mayhem at work (tariffs), i feel like i’m finally leveling out a bit.
family has been our biggest priority this year, with many events and changes. we’ve been busy visiting our families, spending quality time with our families outside of maryland, and carving out specific time just for our little crew.
i love that we are able to visit family, extended family and take road trips to get to visit those we love. it’s becoming fun in the car, and so much easier now that our babies are that much older. having the ability to load everyone into the car and drive to our favorite places, like lake placid, or being able to drop everything to be with our family, is something so special that i’ll never take for granted. we’ve traveled a lot this year, with quite a few road trips, short weeks, long weekends, late nights, sleepy mornings, and lots of coffee.
it’s been a summer of building core memories, sharing the magic of our favorite places with them, watching them jump full tilt into lake placid, exploring the river with friends, mastering the water balloon fight strategy, losing full days at the pool, perfecting our dance moves, and eating all of the popsicles. this was such a wild, but special summer, and it felt so good to be fully present and enjoying summer.
i’m so happy to be back, starting to feel more creative again, wanting to share and carve out time to keep building something for myself, sharing those things that bring me joy and light me up. i’ve been thinking about how to keep playing around here, what to share and what i love to put in the world, and i’m excited to have a nice pre-fall reset.
some of my favorites from this summer…
