what i loved in august
i’m posting this as it is already september! a day late, and realizing just how quickly august flew by. we celebrated birthdays, soaked up the pool, hosted friends, enjoyed our backyard, and boop, it was time to get ready for school.
summer staples:
summer weather was still in full swing this august, and most of my staples and workhorses kept working for me. something i was loving, especially as i start thinking about fall, was a gray and white moment. in the heat, it looked like a gray tee and denim for work, and for the few crisp mornings we had, it was my new favorite sweatshirt, from ayr, and biker shorts.
looking at my camera roll, it would be silly to pretend i also didn’t live in a white button down this month. dressed up with black pants and flats, dressed down and athletic for walks with leggings or biker shorts, and ready for a get together, with denim cutoffs. here are some of my favorites: mate (sold out in white, but so many other good colors), gap, jenni kayne, ayr (coveting this, knowing how much i love the french blue).
as i was starting to think fall, i started adding back one of my favorite buys from last year, these staud flats. they are so comfortable, the color is perfect, and they’re so great for transition.
new bits for the house:
one of my favorite finds this month, thank you to a friend who is a facebook marketplace hawk, were these lamps. they are absolutely gorgeous and work perfectly in our bedroom. a great reminder to just stalk facebook marketplace as much as possible.
since we moved in, i have been perusing rugs of all shapes and sizes. we need them for all rooms in our house, but i’m also wildly picky. i have been loving some of the quince home selection lately, and i finally pulled the trigger on this rug. i love it in our den and am so happy with it. soft but doesn’t shed, fills the space well, and plays with the green in the room perfectly.
a basic in our house, but one of my favorite scents of all time, i brought back the flamingo estate jasmine damask rose candle. i love it as our house scent, especially this time of year, as summer winds down and fall sneaks in.
