the monday edit
happy monday! i am so happy to be back and writing about the details that light me up. the excitement of the beginning of the year has thrown me into so many creative projects, decorating a new home being the top of the list.
with so many exciting corners to bring to life, i’m enjoying being able to take my time and let my vision evolve and come to life. in the midst of that, portugal was amazing, bringing me such a sense of inspiration, with the gorgeous colors in the douro valley, to the bright blue of the ocean as i was taking off home. design was everywhere i looked.
with only a couple of days to really start to feel even remotely settled in our home, to the point that i could cook dinner and brunch, and snuggle on the house, there have been so many big and small moments of magic. adding spring to the mix, and borderline summer weather, we are thriving with all the time we can spend outdoors. maya started t-ball, we’re grilling and eating dinner outside, it’s that special moment that you realize the world really is thawing.
the monday edit:
reading:
without a shadow of a doubt, this year has been one of my favorite starts to the year in terms of books. i have read so many that i just can’t get over; exquisite characters, stories that stay with you for any number of reasons, and some that i was sad to finish. these were my favorites, so far:
the correspondent (virginia evans): how could you not fall in love with sybil?
heart the lover (lily king): i could not put this book down
how to read a book (monica wood): every character in this book brought me joy, and reminded me of the good in people and redemption.
good dirt (charmaine wilkerson): i savored this book and took my time, i loved how the family history was so intertwined with american history. each character was so well thought out and stayed with me.
once there were wolves (charlotte mcconaghy): charlotte mcconaghy has such a way of breaking my heart in every book she writes, making me so aware of our world and caring for it, and bringing it all into one exquisite story.
best offer wins (marisa kashino): this book was both everything i wanted and not even a little bit of what i expected; perfectly dark, yet entertaining and with subtle moments that had me laughing out loud.
currently reading:
writers & lovers (lily king): casey has my heart…
the irish goodbye (heather aimee o'neill): this grabbed me immediately, feeling like one of my other favorites (the most fun we ever had, claire lombardo)
